Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. ZANU PF national political commissar Munyaradzi Machacha has applauded Johhane The Fifth Africa church leader Archbishop Andby Makururu for leading the fight in being gender sensitive and fighting drug abuse.
Machacha made the remarks in Bindura over the weekend where he attended the church service in the Mashonaland Central province.
Palestine ambassador to Zimbabwe, Tamer Almassri also attended the event.
Machacha said Makururu had played a key role in praying for the nation.
“I want to thank this church for inviting us to your church service. I am very grateful. Zanu PF and Johhane the Fifth of Africa are one thing,” he said.
“We also want to thank Archbishop Andby Makururu for attending our Zanu PF events and have also met our President Emmerson Mnangagwa on several occasions.
“We, as Zanu PF, have been following Archbishop Makururu, where he has taken the lead in fighting drug abuse and child marriages. He (Makururu) is just gender sensitive.”
Makururu told the gathering that anyone who is fighting Zanu PF is wasting their time.
“People who are fighting Zanu PF are wasting their time. This is a revolutionary party which is governing this country and we should pray for it,” he said.
“I want to thank the Zanu PF political commissar, comrade Munyaradzi Machacha, for gracing our event. Please go and tell His Excellence President Emmerson Mnangagwa that we are happy in the country for giving us freedom of worship.”
Almassri also applauded Makururu for inviting him to Bindura, saying the “holy land” of Palestine is supporting the Johhane The Fifth Africa church.
“I am happy with this invite to Bindura and recently, Archbishop Makururu was given a certificate for knowing his work and I want to say the people of Palestine are with you and let’s continue with our prayers,” he said.
Makururu was last week awarded a Solidarity Award by the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates for the support given to the people of Palestine.
The award is written “Holy Land of Palestine Solidarity Award Presented to Andby Makururu of the Republic of Zimbabwe issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the State of Palestine in the occasion of the 77th Anniversary of Alnakba”.
This is the highest order of award given to religious leaders and at the order of the country’s President.
