Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. ZANU PF central committee member Delani Moyo has romped to victory in the Insiza North by-election, according to the results announced by chief elections officer Iwani Dube.
The by-elections were held on Saturday following the death of legislator Farai Taruvinga, who succumbed to cancer recently.
Moyo battled against independent candidate Lesley Dube, National Revival Party’s Mbongeni Moyo and Zapu’s Thabani Mlotshwa.
Delani Moyo polled 7 171 votes, followed by Dube, who polled 1 187, Mlotshwa (114) and Mbongeni (131).
There were 84 rejected ballot papers and the percentage poll was 35,9%, according to the presiding officer. Moyo’s victory came after he spearheaded significant developmental projects in the constituency during the campaign period, among them the Shangani Mine solar borehole system.
