Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. Edd Branson Publishers has been invited to participate in the inaugural Disability Arts Festival in Sidvokodvo, Eswatini on September 27.
The event is organized by the Eswatini Deputy Prime Minister’s Office in collaboration with the Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture.
It is being held under the theme “Inclusive Expression, Economic Empowerment”
The festival is a ground-breaking initiative dedicated to celebrating the creative talents of individuals living with disabilities.
It will feature diverse artistic expressions, including live music, poetry, fashion, drama, and fine arts exhibitions, all led by creatives with disabilities.
Edd Branson Publishers manager, Kuzivakwashe Mtandiro, expressed pride in being associated with the event.
“We are honoured to participate in this inaugural festival,” Mtandiro said.
“Our goal is to export these artists from Eswatini and help them penetrate other markets. We aim to make an impact that extends beyond the event itself.
“The Deputy Prime Minister’s Office has planted the seed; it is up to all of us to cultivate it so the acorn grows into an oak tree.”
According to the organisers, the festival aims to “create a platform where artists with disabilities can express their creativity and be recognised not because of their disabilities, but because of the richness their perspectives bring.”
The event also seeks to raise awareness about disability inclusion in the creative sector and encourage mainstream arts spaces to adopt more inclusive practices.
