Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. Scottland FC has called on CAPS United and Dynamos supporters based in Harare to rally behind the club in their Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match against Manica Diamonds at Rufaro Stadium on Friday.
The Harare side, sitting on 53 points, remains in a tense title race with defending champions Simba Bhora.
Only two points separate the two sides, and a win for Scottland on Friday would see them leapfrog to the top of the table, one point ahead of Simba Bhora, who have 55 points.
Simba Bhora’s match against Triangle United, originally scheduled for Sunday, was postponed as the team prepares to face Eswatini’s Nsingizini Hotspurs in the CAF Champions League preliminary round second leg at Somhlolo National Stadium.
In a social media post, Scottland FC urged Dynamos and CAPS United fans to show support, saying they will need Manica Diamonds to lose, as the team battles to avoid relegation from the top flight. The statement reads:
“Dear All Caps United and Dynamos fans…. SAD REALITY: Are you aware that the outcome of the big Relegation (Harare) Derby on Sunday might be of NO use to both of you if Manica Diamonds collect points on Friday?
“GOOD NEWS: Manica Diamonds are in Harare this Friday for a match against Scottland. Kick off is 3pm and cheapest ticket is just US$3.
“CONCLUSION: Whatever you choose to do with this information is up to you…”
CAPS United and Dynamos go head-to-head at Rufaro Stadium on Sunday in a clash that could decide their Premier Soccer League survival.
Manica Diamonds sit 11th with 33 points, just a point clear of CAPS United, who are 13th. Meanwhile, Dynamos, in 16th position, trail Manica Diamonds by four points.
