Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. FORMER FC Platinum and Young Africans striker Donald Ngoma says he has no plans of slowing down and is highly-motivated to carry on competing with the budding stars coming into the game.
With 12 goals in just five games, the 36-year-old veteran forward has ignited a mouth-watering title chase against Sheasham FC which promises to produce a thrilling finale.
He notched braces against Matobo FC and Jame West, a goal each against Sheasham FC and FC Platinum U19.
Ngoma then registered six goals on Wednesday when Hardrock recorded a massive 13-0 win over Gokwe North FC.
In total, Ngoma’s razor-sharp instincts and clinical finishing have yielded 14 goals in 27 matches, leaving him just three goals behind league leader Wilfred Madzungu of Sheasham FC.
Yet, it’s not the proximity to the top scorer that drives Ngoma, but the unyielding desire to claim the golden boot and etch his name in the annals of league and team’s history.
As Hardrock FC close in on Sheasham FC, who lead by a mere two points as they sit on 69 points, Ngoma’s determination has reached fever pitch.
Seven games are left to play and the veteran striker is focused on one objective, to outscore his rivals and emerge victorious.
“My focus remains the same, to help the team reach the top,” he said.
“We are working hard to ensure that we achieve the team’s objective.
“As an individual, I am hoping to score more and help the team.
“There are still many games to play and we need to keep winning.”
Ngoma’s journey, boosted with experiences at Manica Diamonds FC, FC Platinum and Azam FC of Tanzania, has prepared him for this moment.
Today, Hardrock FC host Blanket Mine FC at Baghdad Stadium as their rivals and log leaders Sheasham take on MSU at the Midlands State University grounds on the same day.
Third-placed Gwanda Pirates host Jame West at Phelandaba Stadium.
Simply put, the stage is set for a thrilling conclusion.
