94-Year-Old Among Five Killed in Truck-Kombi Crash

Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. A 94-year-old man was among five people killed in a road traffic accident at the 73-kilometre peg along the Chivhu–Nyazura Road on 24 October 2025.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said a haulage truck carrying cement collided with a Toyota Hiace minibus carrying twelve passengers after hitting it from behind.

The impact claimed the lives of five occupants, including the driver, while eight others sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Murambinda Hospital for treatment.

The victims have been identified by their next of kin as Takunda McGregor Ndoro (29) of Mt Pleasant Heights, Harare, the Kombi driver; Juliet Chikasha (58) of Southlea Park, Harare; Juliet Makunike (25) of Burma Valley, Mutare; Taurai Manyewu (51) of Epworth, Harare; and Muzonda Marumbei (94) of Nyamande Village, Buhera.

Comm. Nyathi also confirmed that police are investigating another fatal accident that occurred at the 192-kilometre peg along the Harare–Masvingo Road near Mvuma on 26 October 2025.

A Nissan Caravan carrying seven passengers lost control while heading towards Harare, overturning twice before landing on its left side. Two people died at the scene, while four others were injured.
