Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. Harare magistrate Apollonia Marutya has moved the trial date of Alpha Media Holdings (AMH) editors Faith Zaba and Kholwani Nyathi to November 19 in a case they are charged with undermining the authority of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.The duo, Zaba as the editor of Zimbabwe Independent while Nyathi is the AMH editor-in-chief, are accused of undermining the authority of Mnangagwa following the publication of a satire piece in the Independent’s long-running Muckraker column, on June 27.

Muckraker column is famed for lampooning Zimbabwe’s political establishment.Legal experts say the prosecution of journalistssatire over undermines Zimbabwe’s obligations under the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights and the Declaration of Principles on Freedom of Expression and Access to Information in Africa, both of which the country has ratified.
