Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. THE Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) has launched a plan to build a world-class women’s football movement.

The plan, Women’s Football Strategy, was launched at the Rainbow Towers Hotel in Harare yesterday and runs up to 2028.

It aims for competitive success, empowering girls, and celebrating national identity by creating a game that emphasises values like excellence, respect and integrity.

The strategy’s mandate is to develop the game through strong clubs, equal opportunities and a clear pathway from the grassroots to elite levels.

The plan is supported by five core pillars, each designed to drive sustained growth and success, which include growing participation, showcasing the image, striving for excellence, building foundations, and bringing structures.

It focuses on establishing sound governance, policies, and leadership to ensure the women’s game is professional, credible and sustainable.

Zifa president Nqobile Magwizi defined the strategy as a landmark blueprint that charts a bold and transformative future for the women’s game in Zimbabwe.

“Women’s football in Zimbabwe has a rich and inspiring history. From the Mighty Warriors’ iconic achievements to the passion seen across our provinces, the potential has always been clear. What has been missing is a coordinated, well-resourced and clearly structured system capable of nurturing talent from the youngest age groups through to the senior national teams. Today, we take a decisive step towards building such a system,” he said.

Magwizi said the strategy sets out a comprehensive approach anchored on five pillars.

“Each pillar speaks to our collective ambition – to create a world-class, inclusive and competitive women’s football ecosystem that leaves no girl, no community and no dream behind,” Magwizi said.
