Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. Dynamos have cemented their place in Zimbabwean football history by winning the Chibuku Super Cup for the third consecutive season, becoming the first club to do so.
The milestone was achieved with a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Triangle United in a dramatic final at Gibbo Stadium on Saturday, 29 November.
The match began under a cloud of controversy, with the kickoff delayed by twenty minutes as the two teams disputed which match balls should be used. Normalcy was restored only after intervention from the Premier Soccer League.
Early in the game, Dynamos suffered a setback when first-choice goalkeeper Prince Tafiremutsa was injured around the 43rd minute while making a save from a Triangle corner.
Tafiremutsa was rushed to the hospital, forcing the introduction of Tatenda Makoni between the posts.
Despite this, Dynamos remained resilient against a home side that dominated long stretches and created several meaningful chances.
Both clubs entered the final fresh from surviving relegation on the last day of the season, making the occasion a high-stakes battle for pride and glory.
For Dynamos, the match represented more than just another trophy—it was a chance to secure a place in exclusive company.
Until Saturday, only FC Platinum, Dynamos, and Harare City had lifted the Chibuku Super Cup twice. By winning again, Dynamos now stand alone in history.
The decisive moment came in the 80th minute when substitute Enasio Perezo Jr struck a brilliant long-range effort that stunned the stadium and secured the historic 1–0 victory.
Perezo’s goal proved enough to seal the win, capping an improbable season in which Dynamos had spent much of the year fighting relegation.
The triumph was particularly significant for coach Kelvin Kaindu, who had vowed that he would not celebrate relegation survival but only a cup victory.
Since joining the club in July, Kaindu has guided Dynamos through an unbeaten run, ending the season on a high note.
With the win, Dynamos not only added another trophy to their collection but also earned the right to represent Zimbabwe in the 2026/27 CAF Confederation Cup.
