Nash TV Closure: Mutarisi Says It Was Time to Move On

Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. Businessman Tinashe Mutarisi says the decision to shut down Nash TV was made because the platform no longer had anything new to offer its audience.

Mutarisi announced on Tuesday that Nash TV would be closing, saying he now intends to focus fully on entrepreneurship, business development, and mentoring the next generation of Zimbabwean business leaders.

He later added that, in his view, Nash TV had achieved all it could, and the team felt it was the right time to bring the project to an end. Said Mutarisi:

“I know most of you want to know why we are closing Nash TV. I believe we have done our best. There is nothing new we can offer you guys right now.

“I don’t want to keep holding on, because I think everything we did is what we wanted to do. This is the best we can offer.”

He said Nash TV was created specifically to support artists during the COVID-19 crisis, but now that the pandemic has passed, the platform no longer serves a clear purpose. Mutarisi added:

“The media industry is not easy, and it’s financially draining. We have really done our best. The main reason is that we have done our best, that’s it.”

Responding to questions about the future of artists signed under the Nash TV label, Mutarisi said all the artists were secure, particularly the top four. He said:

“As for our four main artists (Nisha Ts, Saintfloew, Ninety6, and Raymer), you don’t have to worry about them.

“Some managers we used to work with will continue working with our artists. These artists are safe.”
