Tungwarara Critiques Opposition's Failure in Nkulumane

Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. Aspiring ZANU-PF Central Committee member Paul Tungwarara has criticised opposition legislators who have represented Nkulumane in the National Assembly, accusing them of failing to deliver meaningful development in the constituency.

Tungwarara made the remarks on Wednesday while addressing party supporters and residents at a campaign rally in Nkulumane, held as part of ZANU-PF’s final push ahead of Saturday’s by-election.

He said the opposition had controlled most urban constituencies for more than two decades but had little to show for it, arguing that Bulawayo and other cities continue to face unresolved infrastructure and service delivery challenges. Said Tungwarara:

“The opposition has had its opportunity for the past 20 years, winning seats in most urban areas, but they have failed to do anything meaningful for the people.”

He called on voters in Nkulumane to give the ruling party an opportunity, arguing that ZANU-PF had historically prioritised development in rural areas and was now ready to turn its attention to urban centres.

ZANU-PF National Political Commissar Munyaradzi Machacha echoed the criticism, accusing the opposition of failing to resolve basic service delivery challenges, including sewer reticulation and refuse collection.

He said the ruling party would be in a position to address these problems if voters granted it a mandate in the by-election.
