Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. MultiChoice Zimbabwe has reassured customers that DStv subscription prices will not go up following the recent VAT increase.
In the 2026 National Budget, Zimbabwe’s Finance Minister raised the Value Added Tax from 15 per cent to 15.5 per cent, effective from 1 January 2026.
In a notice issued on 31 December 2025, MultiChoice stressed that the VAT change will not affect the cost of DStv subscriptions. The notice reads:
“MultiChoice confirms the announced VAT changes in Zimbabwe, increasing from 15.0% to 15.5%, effective 1 January 2026.
“We remain committed to full compliance with local regulations and have prepared our systems and customer communication to ensure a smooth transition.
“Importantly, MultiChoice will not be increasing subscription prices as a result of this VAT adjustment.
“Our priority is to minimise the impact on customers while maintaining uninterrupted access to the best local and international content through our DStv services.”
This means that the DStv Premium package will stay at its long-standing price of $75 per month.
The DStv Compact Plus package, which offers popular content such as the UEFA Champions League and NBA, will remain at $46, while the widely used DStv Compact package continues at $32.
The DStv Family package will be sold at $21 per month, the DStv Access plan remains at $16, and the most affordable tier, DStv Lite, will remain at $9.
