A 78‑year‑old man from Kadoma, Benjamin Harry, has been accused of killing his son after being caught in bed with his daughter‑in‑law.

On 6 January, Benjamin’s son, Kudakwashe Harry (30), allegedly walked in and found his father having sex with his wife, Evelyn Mashava (22).

A heated confrontation followed. During the row, Benjamin is said to have armed himself with an iron bar and struck Kudakwashe, killing him on the spot.

Following the incident, Benjamin was arrested along with Evelyn, Mike Hwata (36), William Grasham (34), Perfect Vembo (18), Tongai Mavhurume (18), and a 16‑year‑old boy.

Tongai and the minor are Evelyn’s brothers.

All of them now face murder charges and have been remanded in custody under case number Kadoma Rural 27/1/26.

However, different versions of events have since emerged. According to the first account, Kudakwashe discovered his father with Evelyn, confronted him, and was fatally struck with the iron bar.

After the killing, Benjamin allegedly panicked and asked Evelyn’s brothers to help move the body.

It is claimed they hung Kudakwashe’s body from a tree to make it look like suicide, with Benjamin offering one of his cows as payment.

Neighbours were also allegedly approached to assist in staging the scene.

Another version suggests that Perfect Vembo and William, both said to be former lovers of Evelyn, were involved in a confrontation with Kudakwashe that contributed to his death.

A post‑mortem revealed that Kudakwashe suffered severe head injuries consistent with being struck by an iron bar.

Evelyn’s statements further suggest her brothers were involved in the fight, allegedly trying to protect her from abuse by her husband.
