A 27-year-old commuter omnibus driver, Mallon Masora, allegedly posed as a prophet and raped a 25-year-old university student at Ranmine Mountain.
Masora recently appeared in Bindura Magistrate’s Court facing rape charges.
Prosecutor Clever Nyapfani told the court that the alleged attack took place on 21 November 2025 at around 6 pm.
According to the prosecution, the complainant had boarded Masora’s kombi earlier in November and sat in the front seat.
Masora reportedly asked if she believed in prophets, and when she said she partly did, he claimed to have “seen visions” about her life. The two then exchanged phone numbers.
On 21 November, the complainant went to Ranmine after Masora directed her to what he called his shrine.
Upon arrival, he instructed her to bring fresh milk and a clay bowl, which she did. He then began “prophesying” about her personal life, and she acknowledged some of his statements.
The situation reportedly turned frightening when Masora claimed that her boyfriend had “installed something in her stomach” during their last sexual encounter and insisted he needed to remove it. He allegedly ordered her to lie down and then raped her.
The complainant later confided in her sister, leading to a police report and Masora’s arrest.
