A motorist was killed after a truck carrying thousands of live chickens collided with his Toyota Passo at a busy intersection in Bulawayo early on Saturday morning.
The crash happened at around 5.40 AM at the junction of Robert Mugabe Way and Heathfield Road in Northend.
The truck, which was transporting about 4,000 chickens, was involved in a collision with the smaller vehicle.
Witnesses said the impact was severe, leaving the Toyota Passo extensively damaged. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police and members of the Bulawayo Fire and Ambulance Services attended the scene to manage the wreckage and clear the road.
It was not immediately clear whether anyone else was injured. Police have not yet released the identity of the deceased, pending notification of next of kin.
