The son of former Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe, Bellarmine Chatunga Mugabe, and Tobias Mugabe Matonhodze are set to face two new charges on Thursday when they return to the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The pair were already facing charges of attempted murder, defeating the ends of justice, and unlawful possession of a firearm.
Prosecutors have now added two more counts: pointing a firearm and contravening the Immigration Act.
The two men are accused of shooting a 23-year-old gardener in the back at the Mugabe Hyde Park home on 19 February.
The victim, reportedly an employee at the Mugabe residence, sustained injuries in the alleged incident.
There is still no clarity on how Mugabe entered South Africa, given questions around his legal status in the country.
Both men are expected to formally apply for bail on Thursday, with the court hearing set to determine whether they will be granted temporary freedom pending trial.
