Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. The bodies of six family members, a mother and her five children who were killed in a road traffic accident on Thursday, will be taken to Chivhu on Sunday for burial.

Lilian Mujuru and her children left their home in Tynwald North, Harare, for a church conference when they were involved in a head-on collision along Masvingo Road near Mvuma.

Lilian (40) and her five children — Nokutenda (15), Makanaka (13), Ronald Junior (11), Rufaro Shalom (7) and Kayden (3) — died at the scene, leaving husband and father Ronald Mujuru devastated.

Speaking at a Harare funeral parlour on Saturday, Mujuru, who is still struggling to come to terms with the loss, said his life now feels like “a prison”, adding: “This will affect me until my own death.”

Among those who paid their respects was Transport and Infrastructural Development Minister Felix Mhona.

Fighting back tears, Mhona said that President Emmerson Mnangagwa had been deeply moved by the tragedy and had sent him to convey condolences on his behalf and those of his two deputies.

“We have been saddened by the loss of six lives from the same family in a road traffic accident,” said Mhona.

“This is so painful. We have lost as a nation. President Mnangagwa is aware of this incident, and he has sent me to express his condolences.”

Mourners included church members, teachers, classmates, football supporters who knew Ronald as a devoted Dynamos F.C. fan, and friends from his time managing musician Andy Muridzo.

Mhona urged Zimbabweans to stop filming and photographing accident victims for social media.

“I urge the people of Zimbabwe to value our culture and tradition… by not posting videos and photographs of accident victims on social media.

“Let us consider how such videos affect relatives of the victims and the general public.

“That is why you see the police first find the next of kin before informing the public,” he said.
