Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) de facto leader Sengezo Tshabangu has resumed his recall campaign, this time targeting three councillors in Victoria Falls.

In a letter dated 27 May 2026 to Victoria Falls Town Clerk Ronnie Dube, the Minister of Local Government and Public Works, Daniel Garwe, said the three councillors had ceased to be members of the CCC.

The councillors are Mthunzi Mpofu (Ward 9), Nkanyiso Sibindi (Ward 10), and Daniel Moyo (Ward 11).

“In terms of Section 278(1) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, as read with Section (i) (k), the above-mentioned wards are now vacant. In terms of Section 121 of the Electoral Act, please proceed to inform the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission of these vacancies,” wrote Garwe.

Meanwhile, Sibindi was arrested on Tuesday after he allegedly smashed a laptop and threatened the Town Clerk at the Victoria Falls Municipal Chambers.

Sibindi, Mpofu and Moyo reportedly refused to leave the chamber after Dube read out recall letters from Garwe.

Sibindi is said to have jumped onto a table, smashed a laptop, and threatened Dube before being restrained by a fellow councillor. He was later arrested by the police.

During the incident, one of the councillors tore up his recall letter, disputing the recall. He claimed the letters were fake and insisted they had received no communication from the CCC.

The incident is the latest in a series of CCC recalls since the August 2023 elections.
