THE 26-year-old Thailand man who escaped from Wilkins Hospital Monday before he could undergo coronavirus tests is reported to have pitched up at the hospital Tuesday morning.
Harare City Health Director, Prosper Chonzi confirmed the suspected coronavirus patient was now undergoing new tests and results were expected before the end day Tuesday.
He, however, said preliminary tests had shown that the patient had no coronavirus symptoms and his temperature was normal at 38.6 degrees. The patient jetted into Zimbabwe three weeks ago.
Chonzi said the patient’s 14-day incubation period had lapsed and his chances of carrying the coronavirus were slim. Police were on the hunt for the man and had escorted health officials to an address in Mt Pleasant, but could not locate him.
A check with records at the Immigration Department, revealed the man had given another address in Pomona suburb, but he could also not be located.
