Government moves to equip ZBC to improve efficiency

GOVERNMENT through the Ministry of ICT, Postal and Courier Services has moved to equip the national broadcaster, the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) to effectively discharge its constitutional mandate.

The ministry handed over a consignment of laptops and computers to the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, which were then handed over to ZBC this Tuesday.

Speaking on the sidelines of the handover ceremony Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of ICT Engineer Sam Kundishora said it was imperative for the national broadcaster to be technologically equipped.

“We are handing over part of the equipment to be used by ZBC. Your work requires state of the art equipment that will be used especially during this time of COVID-19,” he said.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Mr Nick Mangwana said ZBC should take the lead in the country’s technological revolution and achieve the desired goals.

“We are grateful for this donation as it speaks to the President’s vision of building a country that is technically equipped.ZBC should lead in technological revolution and we believe our partners will continue to support us,” he said.

The national broadcaster through the Acting Chief Executive Officer, Ms Helliate Rushwaya applauded the gesture and promised to continue serving national interests.

“I would like to thank you for this donation as it will allow our team to deliver. We will ensure the nation is informed.”
The donation comes at a time when the nation is faced with the COVID-19 pandemic which calls for the dissemination of accurate and timely information.
