FARMERS have been urged to scale up production so as to sustain livelihoods and the economy in the wake of limited options for importation due to COVID 19.
Speaking during the handover of rice to the elderly and vulnerable people in Bindura, Mashonaland Central Minister of State for Provincial Affairs Honourable Monica Mavhunga challenged those in farming communities to scale up agriculture production to sustain communities.
“Let us do exceedingly well so that everyone can have food. We have water lets irrigate, we no longer have access to imports each nation has its challenges, its high time we strive to work extra harder because we have been given the opportunity to continue working,” she said.
Bindura South Legislator Honourable Remigious Matangira applauded government for the aid while calling upon society to support the vulnerable.
“We didn’t have good rains this year and now most of the members of our society have become idle, private sector and individuals have to come in handy with the little they have in store to assist,” explained Karoro.
