THE ZANU PF Midlands provincial leadership has embarked on a massive COVID-19 awareness campaign in the wake of a spike in positive cases in the country.
The recent spike in COVID-19 positive cases has prompted the ZANU PF leadership in the Midlands province to go on a provincial tour educating communities on ways of preventing the spread of the pandemic, with the recent campaign targeting Chirumanzu community.
Midlands Minister of State Senator Larry Mavhima urged community leaders in Chirumanzu to conscientise citizens on how to contain COVID-19.
“Everyone here must understand that COVID-19 is real. Americans have died in considerable numbers within a period of three months. It is time we urge our localities to practice safe hygienic ways for us to stay safe. We are having a situation where our quarantine centres are fuelling the spread of this pandemic. The disease is so bad in that you might be having it yet the symptoms might not be so clear hence we need to keep social distancing,” said Senator Mavhima.
ZANU PF Politburo member Cde Simbarashe Mumbengegwi commended President Emmerson Mnangagwa for his leadership skills that have seen the country managing to contain the spread of the pandemic.
“Let’s rally behind our President. It is through his leadership skills that we have managed to prevent the spread of this pandemic. Some people assumed that this pandemic was going to have devastating effects when it reaches Africa but today we stand tall as some of the countries that have managed to contain the spread of the disease. Our biggest challenge has been imported cases. Our leader has put in place some good measures that have protected our societies. Yes we have causalities but statistics prove that we are much better,” Cde Mumbengegwi said.
Government has stepped in to tighten screws in enforcing level two lockdown regulations after people seemed to be failing to observe social distancing and roaming around central business districts of most cities without justifiable reasons.
