Trevor Ncube, the chairperson of Alpha Media Holdings has endorsed an online pro-democracy movement – #ZimbabweanLivesMatter.
Ncube who advises President Mnangagwa in the Presidential Advisory Council posted on Twitter suggesting that the movement transcends political orientations. He Tweeted:
I am not Zanu-PF I am not MDC I am Zimbabwean I support right of citizens to protest peacefully I support the right of citizens to support the political party of their choice I am for independent judiciary I am against corruption, abductions, torture #Zimbabweanlivesmatter
Ncube speaks when pro-democracy voices have intensified in Zimbabwe lately amid reports of the government’s crackdown on dissent.
Alleged human rights abuses have also attracted the attention of the international community including South Africa, the United States, the European Union and the United Nations.
Tensions between the government on one hand and the opposition and the citizenry on the other have been growing mainly because of deepening socio-economic and political crises in the Southern African country.
Analysts attribute the deteriorating state of affairs to bad governance by the governing ZANU PF which some are saying should relinquish power forthwith.
