THE Republic of South Korea has pledged enhanced co-operation with Zimbabwe in fighting COVID-19.
South Korea has handed over to the Zimbabwean government staff houses built at Mliti clinic in Shamva under the Health Remodelling Project as well as a community piggery project.
Speaking at the handover ceremony on Thursday, South Korean Ambassador to Zimbabwe, His Excellency DO Bong-kae said his country will continue co-operating with Zimbabwe during the COVID-19 pandemic.
”The Government of the Republic of Korea has already donated Covid-19 diagnostic testing kits valued at 300, 000 through the World Health Organization and one hundred thousand facemasks through the Africa Centre for Disease control and prevention to strengthen the Zimbabwe governments response towards the Covid 19 pandemic,” he said.
The Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution in Mashonaland Central, Honourable Monica Mavhunga said the province continues to receive support as a result of strong bilateral ties between the two countries.
”To date Mashonaland central has been supported to the tune of US 561 978.15. Indeed, these cordial provincial relations were also made possible as result of good friendly international co-operation between the republic of Zimbabwe and the Republic of Korea,” she said.
