GOVERNMENT is impressed with mining companies that have been granted licenses during the Second Republic with Bravura Platinum in Mashonaland East Province on the verge of completing exploration work.
The second republic set sights on courting foreign investors for the benefit of various economic sectors including mining.
Among the investors in the mining sector is Bravura Platinum, which was granted mining rights in Selous just over 15 months ago but has covered extensive exploration groundwork.
Having assessed the progress made so far, Mines and Mining Development Minister, Honourable Winstone Chitando is optimistic about a bright future.
“The work which we have witnessed here is yet another testimony that his Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s economic agenda is on course as all projects he commissioned are progressing well,” said Minister Chitando.
Bravura Country Manager, Lionel Mhlanga said their target of drilling 15000 meters is within reach for them to quantify the platinum resources before they undertake mine designing.
“Bravura has demonstrated that Government courted real investors who are willing to see it through that the country achieves a US$12 billion mining economy by the year 2023.”
The Deputy Minister of Mines and Mining Development, Honourable Polite Kambamura acknowledged the positive impact the Bravura mining project is set to have on the country’s mining industry.
“As Government, we will support these mining ventures which will be anchors to meeting an upper-middle-income country by the year 2030.”
Minister Chitando said the government is satisfied with new platinum mining projects which include the Great Dyke Investments and Karoo Resources which are at advanced stages of development and expected to contribute towards the attainment of a 12 billion US dollar mining economy by 2023.
