Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. The Sunday Mail, a state-run publication, conducted a snap survey on the prices of basic commodities in Harare. We present the table below showing the latest prices as of the 15th of June 2022:
Prices of basic commodities have been rising in recent weeks with authorities blaming the trend on the war between Russia and Ukraine.
Some analysts say while Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on the 24th of February this year, and a chain of events that followed, affected global trade, Zimbabwe was already experiencing an economic crisis.
The government has relaxed some import regulations to remove pressure on local industries that are struggling to sufficiently quench local demand.
