Police Recover 13 Laptops That Had Been Stolen From A Bulawayo Shop

Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. The Zimbabwe Republic Police has announced the recovery of 13 laptops that had been stolen from a shop in Bulawayo Central Business District (CBD).

Police say Nyasha Shumba, who is the suspect in the case, was arrested after he was spotted loading the laptops on a bus. Reads a police statement:

Police in Bulawayo arrested Nyasha Shumba (31) for a case of theft involving 15 laptops at a shop in Bulawayo CBD on 27/08/22. The suspect posed as a potential buyer who intended to buy 18 laptops from the shop before duping the salesperson to buy him food at Chicken Inn.

He was later left alone in the shop where he stole the laptops and vanished. On 29/8/22, the suspect was seen loading laptops in a bus along 1st Avenue leading to his arrest. Police recovered 11 laptops from the suspect and two others in Kwekwe where he had already sold them.

In May this year, police recovered 40 laptops that had been stolen from Pfupajena High School. The suspect had hidden the loot in a bushy area near Rifle Range Cemetry in Chegutu.

In February, police reported that an unknown suspect broke into a shop in Bulawayo CBD and got away with 21 laptops valued at US$21 000.
