Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. A Mbare man was Tuesday Nov. 11, 2025 sentenced to 15 years in jail after he was convicted of raping his girlfriend’s six-year-old daughter.
The man, who is a vendor and is from Block 8 Matererini Flats, pleaded not guilty during trial, but was, however, convicted by Harare magistrate Feresi Chakanyuka.
The court ruled that there was overwhelming evidence against him, supported by the medical report.
State prosecutor Cecilia Mashingaidze said early this year, the convict was alone at home with the victim after her mother had left for work.
The State proved that the man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, called the minor into the bedroom and raped her.
He threatened to beat her if she disclosed the matter to anyone.
The matter came to light when the minor visited her grandmother and told her what transpired, leading the case to be reported to the police.
