{"id":101216,"date":"2024-11-29T07:10:57","date_gmt":"2024-11-29T05:10:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/zimbabwe\/all-news\/foul-mouthed-chief-nyamaropa-reported-to-the-national-council-of-chiefs"},"modified":"2024-11-29T09:19:24","modified_gmt":"2024-11-29T07:19:24","slug":"foul-mouthed-chief-nyamaropa-reported-to-the-national-council-of-chiefs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/zimbabwe\/all-news\/foul-mouthed-chief-nyamaropa-reported-to-the-national-council-of-chiefs","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Foul-Mouthed&#8221; Chief Nyamaropa Reported To The National Council Of Chiefs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>A Harare man, Pritchard Tafadzwa Paradzayi, has engaged lawyers to compel investigations into Chief Nyamaropa (born Munyaradze Tivange) for allegedly violating his subjects\u2019 right to dignity.<\/p>\n<p>Paradzayi, in his letter of demand, seeks the intervention of the president of the National Council of Chiefs regarding Chief Nyamaropa\u2019s conduct.<\/p>\n<p>A viral video shows Chief Nyamaropa insulting a woman, ordering her to remove her spectacles, and calling her \u201cstupid\u201d at his court.<\/p>\n<p>The letter, dated November 27 and written by Paradzayi\u2019s lawyer Obey Shava of Shava Law Chambers, is addressed to Chief Mtshane Khumalo.<\/p>\n<p>Paradzayi requests the council to investigate Chief Nyamaropa\u2019s conduct in the discharge of his judicial duties. Reads the letter:<br \/>\nOur client advises as follows: that he is a Zimbabwean male adult with sufficient interest in ensuring that traditional leaders discharge their judicial functions in a judicious and acceptable manner that respects the rights of litigants.<\/p>\n<p>That on November 24, 2014, he came across an excerpt of a video of one of Chief Nyamaropa\u2019s court sessions on YouTube in which Chief Nyamaropa appears to chide a female litigant. The excerpt of the video is accessible on the ZimNews Beat TV YouTube channel.<\/p>\n<p>Paradzayi lawyers argued that Chief Nyamaropa\u2019s conduct exhibited a contemptuous and demeaning attitude towards women, considering his position of influence and the widespread dissemination of the incident on social media.<\/p>\n<p>They further argued that Chief Nyamaropa\u2019s conduct impaired his subjects\u2019 dignity, violated section 51 of the Constitution, and infringed upon their right to a fair hearing as enshrined in section 69 of the Constitution.<\/p>\n<p>Local Government and Public Works Minister Daniel Garwe was notified of Paradzayi\u2019s complaint and the consequences of inaction on his part.<\/p>\n<p>The lawyers demanded an investigation into Chief Nyamaropa\u2019s conduct and corrective action to be communicated within 10 days of receiving the letter.<\/p>\n<p>They stated that failure to address these demands would result in litigation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Zimbabwe<\/span> Follow <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Africa-Press<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Zimbabwe.
