Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>Two pupils from Bulawayo\u2019s Tembiso Children\u2019s Home have earned scholarships to John Tallach High School after passing their Grade Seven exams.<\/p>\n

Blessing Mbedzi and Ishmael Banda, who have been at the children\u2019s home since infancy, secured places at the school with 13 and 15 units respectively.<\/p>\n

The scholarships, which will see them start secondary school in January, were made possible thanks to the support of well-wishers.<\/p>\n

Blessing said the move to secondary school has strengthened his determination to excel academically and pursue his long-term dream of becoming a pastor. He said:<\/p>\n

\u201cI passed grade seven with 13 units; therefore, I am excited to have passed out of all students because I am now going to learn in a better school, and when I succeed at secondary school, I want to be a pastor.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ishmael said the scholarship had inspired him to work even harder, adding that he hopes to become a doctor after finishing secondary school. He said:<\/p>\n

\u201cI am glad that I passed with 15 units, and I thank the well-wishers who will be paying for my secondary school tuition at a beautiful school. When I pass the secondary level, I want to be a doctor.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tembiso Children\u2019s Home superintendent Bhekimpilo Dube said the pupils\u2019 success highlights the institution\u2019s dedication to promoting education for the children in its care. Said Dube:<\/p>\n

\u201cAt Tembiso, we encourage pupils in academia; therefore, we have two pupils who did well in their grade 7 exams, and one of them is Blessing Mbedzi with 13 units and Ishmael Banda with 15 units.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe then got them places for secondary education in one of the best schools, John Tallach, whose higher life volunteered to help us with their tuition, and we encourage others as well to take their school work seriously.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said the achievement would inspire other learners at the home to take their studies seriously and strive for academic excellence.<\/p>\n
