Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>THE chairperson of Zanu PF affiliate Musicians for ED has been sentenced to 10 months in prison after he was found in possession of drugs.<\/p>\n

Tinashe Gonzara, popularly known as Ti Gonzi, had been arrested for violating traffic laws.<\/p>\n

After his arrest, police searched his car and found prohibited drugs \u2014 Bron Cleer cough syrup and dagga.<\/p>\n

He was facing five counts.<\/p>\n

He was fined US$100 for driving without a driver\u2019s licence and 10 months imprisonment for driving past a red traffic light, of which two months was suspended on condition of good behaviour.<\/p>\n

On counts three, four and five, he was fined US$100 or 30 days imprisonment.<\/p>\n

The court heard that on February 2 this year, the accused person was arrested by police officers for disregarding a red traffic light at Mupedzanhamo robots.<\/p>\n

One Constable Katukavarimi informed the accused that he was under arrest for ignoring a red traffic light.<\/p>\n

She entered the accused\u2019s vehicle and instructed him to drive to ZRP Mbare<\/p>\n

Traffic for further management.<\/p>\n

The accused person did not comply with her instruction and drove towards Coca-Cola in Graniteside along Cripps Road.<\/p>\n

Upon reaching the next traffic lights along Cripps Road, Katukavarimi was joined by another constable only identified as Gutusa and they escorted the accused person to ZRP Mbare Traffic.<\/p>\n

His vehicle was searched and the police officers found dagga and Bron Cleer cough syrup.<\/p>\n
