Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>ALPHA Media Holdings (Private) Limited (AMH), publisher of NewsDay, The Standard and Zimbabwe Independent, and owners of HStv, has appointed Takura Mapfumo general manager, effective March 1.<\/p>\n

The move follows the resignation of Kenias Mafukidze from the position of chief executive officer, effective the same date, as he transitions to a senior consultancy role within the group.<\/p>\n

Mafukidze joined AMH in 2017 as managing director and was promoted to CEO in 2019, steering the group through a transformative period in Zimbabwe\u2019s media landscape.<\/p>\n

Under his leadership, AMH navigated significant challenges while maintaining its commitment to independent, credible journalism across its print, digital and broadcast platforms.<\/p>\n

In his consultancy role, Mafukidze will continue contributing to AMH\u2019s growth agenda.<\/p>\n

AMH chairman Trevor Ncube paid tribute to Mafukidze for his service to the company.<\/p>\n

\u201cKen has been a friend and colleague and we are grateful that he will continue to be available to AMH,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis deep knowledge of the business and his relationships in the market make him a valuable partner as we navigate this next chapter.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mapfumo, who has served as AMH\u2019s chief technology officer (CTO), will oversee the day-to-day operations of the group and work closely with the board to execute its strategic agenda. He will continue in an acting capacity as CTO, while the company searches for his successor.<\/p>\n

Ncube said Mapfumo\u2019s appointment signalled the group\u2019s strategic pivot.<\/p>\n

\u201cTakura brings an invaluable combination of technological expertise and operational insight to this role,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs AMH deepens its digital transformation and explores new revenue streams, his leadership will be central to the group\u2019s evolution. We have every confidence in his ability to lead the organisation through this exciting and important phase.\u201d<\/p>\n
