Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>HARARE, Apr. 16 (NewsDay Live) \u2013 Residents in Harare\u2019s Mabvuku and Marlborough suburbs have been assured of heightened security following the deployment of additional police officers to curb a spike in robberies and related criminal activities.<\/p>\n

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) national spokesperson Paul Nyathi confirmed the deployments, saying the move is aimed at restoring safety and public confidence in the affected communities.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have effected comprehensive deployments in the areas to curb robbery and other criminal activities. Residents should cooperate with the police by reporting suspicious movements, unknown people roaming aimlessly or suspicious vehicles in their neighbourhoods,\u201d Nyathi said.<\/p>\n

He urged the public to make full use of available reporting channels and to promptly alert authorities to any suspicious activity.<\/p>\n

Nyathi also called for stronger collaboration between residents and law enforcement, stressing that community vigilance is critical in identifying and apprehending criminal elements.<\/p>\n

In addition to police action, he appealed for improved safety measures at both household and community levels.<\/p>\n

\u201cResidents and the Harare City Council must enhance security in their neighbourhoods, including installing street lighting, floodlights and burglar bars at homes,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The police further advised residents travelling at night to notify their destinations in advance and encouraged communities to keep contact details of local police stations and neighbours readily available to enable swift emergency response.<\/p>\n

The latest intervention comes amid growing concern over rising urban crime, with authorities banking on both increased visibility and community cooperation to stem the tide.<\/p>\n
