{"id":116622,"date":"2026-04-23T19:47:06","date_gmt":"2026-04-23T17:47:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/zimbabwe\/all-news\/undp-zida-rally-private-capital-at-zitf-dialogue"},"modified":"2026-04-23T21:56:43","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T19:56:43","slug":"undp-zida-rally-private-capital-at-zitf-dialogue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/zimbabwe\/all-news\/undp-zida-rally-private-capital-at-zitf-dialogue","title":{"rendered":"UNDP, ZIDA rally private capital at ZITF dialogue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>BULAWAYO, Apr. 23 (NewsDay Live) \u2013 Stakeholders at a high-level investment dialogue in Bulawayo on Tuesday urged Zimbabwe to shift from merely attracting capital to mobilising \u201cthe right kind\u201d of investment aligned with sustainable development.<\/p>\n<p>Convened by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Zimbabwe Investment and Development Agency (ZIDA) on the sidelines of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair, the Zimbabwe Impact Investment Dialogue brought together government, investors and development partners to unlock inclusive growth.<\/p>\n<p>UNDP Resident Representative Ayodele Odusola said Zimbabwe\u2019s trajectory hinges on capital that delivers jobs, resilience and structural transformation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cZimbabwe\u2019s development agenda requires far greater volumes of private capital, but also the right kind \u2014 investment that supports jobs, productivity, inclusion and long-term transformation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He cited structural pressures \u2014 62% of the population under 25, informal employment above 80%, and rural electricity access around 37% \u2014 as underscoring the urgency for targeted, impact-driven investment.<\/p>\n<p>Odusola said recent macroeconomic stabilisation presents an opening to pivot toward long-term, inclusive investment, noting the global impact investment market is now valued at US$1.57 trillion, with rising interest in Sub-Saharan Africa.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat is not a guarantee of inflows, but a signal that capital is looking for credible, well-structured opportunities,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>ZIDA Chief Investment Promotion Officer Silibaziso Chizwina said Zimbabwe is drawing interest from impact investors but lacks adequate frameworks to absorb such capital.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve been getting inquiries&#8230; but we haven\u2019t set up a framework that recognises that kind of finance,\u201d she said, adding engagements with UNDP have evolved into a broader push to build a national impact investment ecosystem.<\/p>\n<p>She identified agriculture, agro-processing, renewable energy and infrastructure as key investable sectors.<\/p>\n<p>Government representative Tafadzwa Muguti called for tighter alignment between investment and national priorities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need to be precise about the kind of capital we want.
