Six armed robbers who allegedly stole a businesswoman\u2019s car and cash reportedly told her her former husband had sent them. They said it was punishment for ending their marriage.<\/p>\n
The businesswoman, Philippa Miti, runs Mutasa Service Centre and owns Pinkrose Junior School.<\/p>\n
She lost her Toyota Hiace, US$2,000 in cash, and mobile phones when the armed robbers broke into her house.<\/p>\n
\u201cOn May 21, 2026, at around 7.20 pm, six unknown male robbers, who were wearing face masks, gained entrance into Ms Miti\u2019s house through the door, which was not locked and produced a black pistol and okapi knives and threatened her and her son to surrender their belongings,\u201d said a source.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe robbers informed Miti that they were sent by her ex-husband, Joseph Miti, who resides in the Dorowa area, since she had spearheaded their separation.<\/p>\n
\u201cMs Miti surrendered to the robbers approximately US$2,000 cash, which she had in her house.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe robbers also took Ms Miti\u2019s Samsung Galaxy A04 and three other Samsung cellphone models before demanding car keys.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey were given keys in respect of the Toyota Hiace registration number AGY 8760.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe robbers then left the house and drove away with the complainant\u2019s vehicle.\u201d<\/p>\n
The vehicle was later found abandoned in Rusape two days later, with the mobile phones still inside.<\/p>\n
The cash has not been recovered. Police are appealing for information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects.<\/p>\n
\u201cOn May 23 2026, the stolen Toyota Hiace was recovered in Rusape by police detectives abandoned near the Anglican Church with keys on the ignition,\u201d added the source.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe motor vehicle was searched, and a Baofeng radio, one Samsung MI15, one Samsung A15 and one Itel A37 cellphones were recovered.<\/p>\n
\u201cMs Miti positively identified the motor vehicle, radio and cellphones as hers, which were stolen by means of robbery.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe value of the property stolen is US$21,260, and US$18,970 was recovered.\u201d<\/p>\n
