The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) has cut fuel prices to below US$2 for the first time in several months, offering relief to motorists and businesses.<\/p>\n

In a notice issued on Friday night, ZERA said diesel will now sell for US$1.99 per litre, down from US$2.09, while petrol drops to US$1.98 from US$2.08.<\/p>\n

The new prices take effect from 19 June 2026 and will run for two weeks.<\/p>\n

The 10-cent cut for diesel and petrol comes after a sustained period of prices hovering above the US$2 mark, driven by firm global oil prices.<\/p>\n

ZERA reviews pump prices every 14 days based on international landed costs and freight.<\/p>\n

The reduction is expected to ease pressure on transport costs, which feed directly into the price of basic goods.<\/p>\n

Commuter omnibus operators and haulage firms have in recent months cited fuel as a key driver of fare and freight hikes.<\/p>\n

\u201cGovernment interventions continue to cushion consumers from the impact of global geopolitical developments.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe public and operators are advised that the blending ratio is at E20. Operators may sell the petroleum products below the prescribed prices depending on their trading advantages and should display prices in a prominent place as provided for by the fuel pricing regulations.\u201d<\/p>\n
