HARARE, Aug. 3 (NewsDay Live) \u2013 Zimbabwe and Serbia have pledged to deepen bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, education, science and technology, arts, culture and tourism following talks between the two countries\u2019 foreign ministers in Belgrade.<\/p>\n
Zimbabwe\u2019s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Amon Murwira, met his Serbian counterpart, Marko \u0110uric\u0301, on Friday in discussions both sides said reaffirmed the longstanding friendship between the two nations while seeking to translate political ties into stronger economic cooperation.<\/p>\n
Speaking after the meeting, \u0110uric\u0301 said relations between Serbia and Zimbabwe were built on traditional friendship and mutual respect, adding that both countries were committed to strengthening political dialogue and expanding their partnership.<\/p>\n
He also briefed Murwira on Serbia\u2019s position regarding Kosovo and Metohija and thanked Zimbabwe for its continued support for Serbia\u2019s territorial integrity and sovereignty.<\/p>\n
\u0110uric\u0301 invited Zimbabwe to participate in Expo 2027 Belgrade, pledging Serbia\u2019s support to help the country showcase its investment and economic potential at the international exhibition.<\/p>\n
He said Serbia and Zimbabwe had historically shared common positions on many international issues and expressed hope that Murwira would return to Belgrade for further engagements.<\/p>\n
Relations between the two countries date back to the era of the Non-Aligned Movement, when the former Yugoslavia was among the earliest supporters of African liberation movements, including Zimbabwe\u2019s struggle for independence.<\/p>\n
For Zimbabwe, the visit forms part of broader efforts to diversify diplomatic and economic partnerships as it pursues debt resolution and seeks new investment to support its National Development Strategy.<\/p>\n
