Chippa United seems to have found their touch since the arrival of Norman Mapeza in October.<\/p>\n
The Eastern Cape-based side has been on the mend of late after spending the majority of the first half of the season in the drop zone. They moved to the safety in the 11th position over the weekend after beating Cape Town City 1-0 on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Mapeza\u2019s record in the last four games saw him picking ten points out of a possible twelve, the best-undefeated run for the club this season.<\/p>\n
The results are in contrast to what Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane claimed last month.<\/p>\n
The respected South African gaffer questioned the impact Mapeza had brought at Chippa United.<\/p>\n
Pitso wanted the job to be given to a local coach following the sacking of Clinton Larsen as he believes most foreign mentors don\u2019t make any difference in the South African football.<\/p>\n
Speaking to Kick-Off.com, Mosimane was quoted as saying: \u201cI mean really what\u2019s the difference [at Chippa now]? He hasn\u2019t been there and then what? Do you know what I\u2019m trying to say?<\/p>\n
\u201cI was not happy when Cavin Johnson was let off his job [at AmaZulu], what has happened? Have you seen any big difference? You can\u2019t really say there\u2019s been a big difference.\u201d<\/p>\n
When the Sundowns mentor made those comments, Mapeza had taken charge of four games in all competitions.<\/p>\n
The former Zimbabwe international delivered Chippa\u2019s first victory of the season games during that time and also reached the quarter-finals of the Telkom Knockout.<\/p>\n
With such record, should we say Mosimane was just short-sighted when he made his claims or Mapeza is proving the South African gaffer wrong.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
