MUSICIANS across the country have been hit hard by the deadly coronavirus after government issued an order suspending all the gatherings of more than 50 people.<\/p>\n
Last weekend, popular Sungura kingpin Alick Macheso was forced to suspend two live shows in Kadoma and Marondera.<\/p>\n
Other artistes such as Peter Moyo, Suluman Chimbetu and Romeo Gasa also cancelled their last weekend gigs.
\nTich Makahamadze, Macheso\u2019s band manager said coronavirus was seriously affecting the operations of artistes.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s affecting everyone and artistes are not being spared. We were supposed to entertain fans in Kadoma and Marondera over the weekend but due to coronavirus we have suspended all shows. It\u2019s scary and affecting our production also,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Peter Moyo said the pandemic had seriously affected his source of livelihood.<\/p>\n
\u201cCoronavirus yavhuna zvikeyi manje torima sei zvino. It\u2019s really affecting us and we get money from live shows. It\u2019s a blow to us as artistes because cancelling a show means a loss to us,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
