{"id":22435,"date":"2020-04-26T21:59:45","date_gmt":"2020-04-26T19:59:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/zimbabwe\/?p=22435"},"modified":"2020-04-26T21:59:45","modified_gmt":"2020-04-26T19:59:45","slug":"zimbabwes-covid-19-cases-rise-to-31","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/zimbabwe\/all-news\/zimbabwes-covid-19-cases-rise-to-31","title":{"rendered":"Zimbabwe\u2019s COVID-19 Cases Rise To 31"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ZIMBABWE\u2019S COVID-19 confirmed cases have further risen, with the Ministry of Health reporting three people tested positive Saturday for the infectious disease.<\/p>\n<p>One of the cases is from Harare while two are in Mashonaland West province.<\/p>\n<p>No further details were given about the three new cases, except that two of them were local transmissions from Mashonaland West.<\/p>\n<p>The late Gogo Nguni, mother to former government minister, Sylvester Nguni died from coronavirus last week and was from Mhondoro in Mashonaland West.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOf the PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) tests done in Harare, three were positive for COVID-19 and all the PCR tests done in Bulawayo today (Saturday) were negative,\u201d the secretary in the Health Ministry, Agnes Mahomva said in her latest COVID-19 update.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTwo cases of the three cases confirmed today were due to local transmission. All three cases are stable, and not in hospital. More details on these to follow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Harare now has 13 confirmed cases followed by Bulawayo with 10, Mashonaland East \u2013 four, Mashonaland West \u2013 three and Matabeleland North \u2013 one.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTherefore, to date, Zimbabwe has 31 confirmed cases including two recoveries and four deaths,\u201d Mahomva said.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, second COVID-19 tests done on samples taken from the late Gogo Nguni have come out positive. The second test was done after her family insisted the 82-year-ol lived in a self-isolated homestead and never got in touch with anyone from COVID-19 hotspots and also never left the country.<\/p>\n<p>Government has intensified contact tracing in Chitemere village in Mhondoro-Mubaira, where she lived with two housemaids and two herders before she was taken to Harare for treatment.<\/p>\n<p>The Harare City Health Department has also initiated a parallel process on her relatives in Harare, some of whom went to pick her up for treatment in Harare\u2019s West End Clinic where she later died of the disease.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ZIMBABWE\u2019S COVID-19 confirmed cases have further risen, with the Ministry of Health reporting three people tested positive Saturday for the infectious disease.
