THE private sector has been called upon to work with the government to ensure the safety of students and teachers when schools re-open next month.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the province\u2019s COVID-19 schools PPEs launch this Wednesday, Manicaland Education Director, Mr Edward Shumba called for a collaborative approach to ensure the safety of pupils when schools reopen.<\/p>\n
\u201cSchools are implored to go on full-scale production of PPEs for teachers, students and supporting staff. Every school should participate in this noble life-saving move. All must rise to the challenge. It is my hope that after we have launched this program you go into your production units,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
School heads appealed for assistance to produce adequate protective gear for students and teachers to ensure that there is a safe learning environment for the children.<\/p>\n
\u201cMeetings with our SDCs are in progress in various schools and we wish to work together with our community. We want to thank all the programmes being carried out in preparation for the opening of schools,\u201d says one head.
\nMeanwhile, World Vision donated 1 000-litre water tanks to 28 schools in the province.
\nWorld Vision Integrated Programmes Director, Mr Khumbulani Ndhlovu said there is need to ensure that children are safe when they come back because education is important but the lives of the children is also extremely important and has to be given priority.<\/p>\n
Schools are set to re-open in phases beginning on the 28th of July with each school expected to produce most of its own personal protective equipment (PPEs) in line with the competency-based curriculum which promotes industrialisation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
