The President\u2019s press Secretary George Charamba has said the American Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Ambassador Brian Nichols by speaking to eNCA and reiterating that SADC should intervene and stop the government of Zimbabwe from descending on people opposing the government creates a basis for Zimbabwe to expel him, The Standard reports.<\/p>\n

Responding to Ambassador Nichols\u2019 statement, Charamba reportedly said:<\/p>\n

Why would you have an ambassador accredited to Zimbabwe featuring on a station when there is a sitting American ambassador to discuss a country hosting him in another country?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\n

Does it make diplomatic sense to you? Actually somewhere it is a basis to expel him. You give your letters of credence to President Mnangagwa and you go and discuss the host country in South Africa where there is another ambassador?<\/p>\n

\u201cDoes it make diplomatic sense? It is very provocative actually. How does it arise that a person, who delivers letters of credence to Zimbabwe communicates with Zimbabwe over a foreign media, how does that happen? Why are you here then? Why do we need you here at all?<\/p>\n

While on eNCA, Ambassador Nichols spoke about the issues bedevilling the country like human rights abuses, inflation, drought and food insecurity which further contradicts the narrative the government is trying to sell the international community that there is no crisis in Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n

The government has been attacking and or responding to anyone who opposes their narrative that there is no crisis in Zimbabwe. The ruling party in July also threatened to expel the American Ambassador and called him a thug<\/p>\n
