{"id":27677,"date":"2020-09-14T20:33:42","date_gmt":"2020-09-14T18:33:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/zimbabwe\/?p=27677"},"modified":"2020-09-14T20:34:02","modified_gmt":"2020-09-14T18:34:02","slug":"zim-to-be-another-singapore-zanu-pf","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/zimbabwe\/all-news\/zim-to-be-another-singapore-zanu-pf","title":{"rendered":"Zim to be another Singapore \u2014 Zanu PF"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE ruling Zanu PF party says it is optimistic that Zimbabwe will soon come out of the economic woods and transform into another Singapore.<\/p>\n<p>Top Zanu PF official and former presidential adviser Christopher Mutsvangwa made the remarks during a Zimbabwe Coalition on Debt and Development (ZIMCODD) virtual conference at the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting also analysed the economic impact of Finance minister Mthuli Ncube\u2019s Transitional Stabilisation Programme (TSP) which ends in December this year.<\/p>\n<p>Its strategic clusters include governance, macro-economic stability, re-engagement, inclusive growth, infrastructure and utilities and social development.<\/p>\n<p>The TSP also introduced austerity measures and a 2% electronic money transaction tax.<\/p>\n<p>Mutsvangwa hailed the TSP as a major success, but accused the opposition MDC Alliance of running down councils under its control, hence retarding development.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn Bulawayo, factories have been taken away by churches and it is an indictment on those local authorities and the political parties that have put those local authorities into power, and that is why cities have rotten in this country,\u201d Mutsvangwa said.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-7\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cWe have never had a challenge of foreign currency in this country, but the economy was engineered when money changed from paper to digital.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In apparent reference to Econet\u2019s mobile money\u2019s dominance on the financial market, Mutsvangwa said: \u201cOne company was allowed to become the central banker.
