The Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (ZIMSTAT) has announced that the value of the country\u2019s total exports slightly increased in September 2020.<\/p>\n

The Agency reports that the value of exports was US$398.8 million which translates to a 2.4% increase from the value of total exports in August 2020, which was about US$389.3 million.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, imports increased by 9.0% to US$441.4 million during the same period, up from US$404.9 million in August 2020.<\/p>\n

The Agency also noted that the difference between the value of a country\u2019s imports and exports (trade of balance \u2013 BOT) has been negative from February to September 2020.<\/p>\n

A positive trade balance had been maintained for four months in a row at the end of 2019.<\/p>\n

This is happening when the minister of Finance, Professor Mthuli Ncube projected that the country\u2019s economy will not deteriorate to the level he had earlier projected.<\/p>\n

He dismissed as mere opinion projections by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) which indicated that Zimbabwe\u2019s economy will further deteriorate this year before regaining in 2021.
