Africa-Press<\/a> – Zimbabwe<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>The new cases recorded in the COVID-19 second wave have seemingly decreased over the past few days. Statistics given by the Ministry of Health and Child Care for the past few days show that new cases are now ranging between 250 and 107 as compared to the first days of January when cases would reach over a thousand on some instances.<\/p>\n

The government announced a national lockdown on 2 January which will provisionally end on 15 February to contain the virus and announced a few other measures to curb spreading the disease like a 12-hour curfew among other things.<\/p>\n

However, the Ministry has noted that 174 people are hospitalised due to the virus and 70 cases are severe with 12 of them in intensive care units. Harare is still recording the highest number of new COVID-19 cases constantly and Harare is also still recording the highest number of COVID-19 deaths.<\/p>\n

President Mnangagwa who came back to work this week has said the vaccines will be for free and the government will announce a rollout plan soon.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, South Africa which has managed to contain the virus\u2019 second wave but the country is now anticipating the virus\u2019 third wave which might start during winter,<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
