Africa-Press<\/a> – Zimbabwe<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Prosecutor-General (PG) Kumbirai Hodzi has rubbished High Court judge Tawanda Chitapi\u2019s advise for him to return to law school after messing up a bail application case involving a notorious armed robber.<\/p>\n

Justice Chitapi on Thursday advised the Prosecutor General to go back to law school and familiarise himself with the country\u2019s statutes.<\/p>\n

The PG had, according to Justice Chitapi, blundered in a bail appeal in a case involving suspected notorious armed robber, Musa Taj Abdul, his accomplices Rudolph Tapiwa Kanhanga and Godfrey Mupamhanga.<\/p>\n

Justice Chitapi said he was amazed by Hodzi\u2019s failure to comprehend legal fundamentals when making an appeal.<\/p>\n

He dismissed Hodzi\u2019s appeal against the case on Thursday last week.<\/p>\n

The case had been granted bail by High Court judge Benjamin Chikowero last December.<\/p>\n

But addressing the media soon after he was vaccinated for coronavirus at his offices in Harare, Hodzi said:<\/p>\n

I am still very sharp, and I don\u2019t need to go to any law school, like what others have said.<\/p>\n

Hodzi was controversially appointed PG following public interviews which were held by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) in 2019.<\/p>\n

He came fifth out of the 10 candidates for the top job and he failed to score 70% mark which was required in the interviews but President Emmerson Mnangagwa handpicked him for the job nonetheless.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
