{"id":48041,"date":"2021-10-10T19:28:50","date_gmt":"2021-10-10T17:28:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/zimbabwe\/?p=48041"},"modified":"2021-10-10T19:26:11","modified_gmt":"2021-10-10T17:26:11","slug":"former-mdc-and-zanu-pf-top-official-sued-for-land-grab","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/zimbabwe\/all-news\/former-mdc-and-zanu-pf-top-official-sued-for-land-grab","title":{"rendered":"Former MDC And ZANU PF Top Official Sued For Land Grab"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/zimbabwe\">Zimbabwe<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>A Harare man has dragged former MDC Alliance Harare provincial secretary for recruitment and mobilisation Shadreck Mashayamombe to court on allegations of stealing his residential stand.<\/p>\n<p>Fungai Faranando Chiku filed a High Court application seeking an order barring Mashayamombe, who is also a former ZANU PF political commissar for Harare province, from interfering with his land in Ushewokunze.<\/p>\n<p>Chiku alleged Mashayamombe threatened him with death over a stand he said he inherited from his father, who was a member of the Ushewokunze Housing Cooperative Society.<\/p>\n<p>Chiku said his father passed on in 2015. He said Mashayamombe claims ownership but is not even a member of the cooperative.<\/p>\n<p>He further claimed that he had sought an interdict after Mashayamombe sent people to the stand to accost and threaten his family members and employees. Chiku said in his founding affidavit:<\/p>\n<p>My late father was allocated stand No. 88 Ushewokunze, Harare of the stands that had been given to the 2nd applicant [housing copperative] by the Minister of Local government.<\/p>\n<p>My father died on 18 January 2015. The second applicant transferred the stand to me and I am the current legal owner and possessor of the stand.<\/p>\n<p>Chiku said Mashayamombe hired people who went came to his stand on 23 September 2021 and harassed his family and stopped his builders who were building on the stand.<\/p>\n<p>He said he reported the matter to the police who told him that the matter was a civil matter as it relates to a civil dispute that left him with no option than to approach the High Court.<\/p>\n<p>Chiku now demanding a declaration that Mashayamombe has no legal right over the property.<\/p>\n<p>He wants an interdict that bars him from interfering in the operations at the stand.<\/p>\n<p>Mashayamombe, formerly Harare South legislator (ZANU PF), is yet to file a response to the suit.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Zimbabwe.
