Africa-Press<\/a> – Zimbabwe<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>By Sports Reporter<\/b> – KAIZER Chiefs forward Khama Billiat has become the top-scoring Zimbabwean player in the South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) era after his record-breaking goal in his team\u2019s 4-0 victory over Chippa United at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Billiat, who last scored for Chiefs in August, ended his goal drought with a 70th-minute strike and provided two assists for Keagan Dolly, who scored a brace in the match.<\/p>\n

The 31-year-old Zimbabwe international\u2019s goal took his tally to 92 goals in all competitions since joining Ajax Amsterdam from CAPS United 11 years ago.<\/p>\n

More importantly, the strike meant Billiat has now overtaken his legendary compatriot Wilfred Mugeyi as the highest-scoring Zimbabwean in the modern PSL era, since 1996.<\/p>\n

The now 52-year-old held the record for the most goals by a Zimbabwean player in South African football after netting 91 goals during his stints with Bush Bucks, Ajax Cape Town, and Free State Stars in the 90s and early 2000s.<\/p>\n

After overtaking Mugeyi, Billiat, who also had a very successful five-year stint at Mamelodi Sundowns, now sits in sixth position on the list of the highest scorers in the PSL history.<\/p>\n

The list is topped by ex-Bafana Bafana star Siyambonga Nomvete who scored 123 goals.<\/p>\n

With 92 goals, Billiat is now just 12 goals away from overtaking Zambian legend Collins Mbesuma who is in fifth position with 103 goals.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
