Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>ZANU PF internal fissures have reportedly worsened in the aftermath of the ruling party\u2019s recently held provincial elections that are part of a restructuring exercise.<\/p>\n

Reports suggest that some party senior officials who were accused of manipulating election processes have embarked on a witch-hunt to silence dissent in lower structures but the targeted members are hitting back.<\/p>\n

The Standard reports that some party insiders in provinces such as Bulawayo, Matabeleland North, Manicaland and Mashonaland East and Mashonaland Central say the internal fights risk the re-election of President Emmerson Mnangagwa in 2023.<\/p>\n

Said a ZANU PF district official in an audio obtained by The Standard:<\/p>\n

The five million votes that the president wants here in Matabeleland North, he won\u2019t get anything because of the provincial coordinator.<\/p>\n

He is killing the party.<\/p>\n

We have done door to door campaigns recruiting people, but at the end you have those people removed from the register.<\/p>\n

The president is not aware that these people and top party officials in the province are removing people from the register to put their people to make it easy to remove him.<\/p>\n

Vicious fights that erupted during the polls were linked to the alleged factions in ZANU PF linked to Mnangagwa and Chiwenga ahead of the December congress that will elect new leadership for the ruling party.<\/p>\n

The duo has in the past dismissed reports that they were wrestling for power.<\/p>\n
