Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>Reports of anomalies in the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC)\u2019s voter\u2019s roll continue to surface with the latest suggesting that 87 people used an industrial stand in Kariba as their residential address when they registered to vote but no one actually resides there.<\/p>\n

The report comes days before Ward 8 in Kariba Municipality holds by-elections scheduled for the 7th of May 2022.<\/p>\n

Former CNN journalist, Hopewell Chin\u2019ono said:<\/p>\n

This is the voter\u2019s roll for Ward 8 in Kariba Municipality. There are by-elections there slated for the 7th of May 2022. There is an address there, Stand 1110 Chawara, where 87 people are registered to vote. Checks have been done. It is an industrial stand & nobody stays there.<\/p>\n

Preciously, ZEC denied reports of anomalies by various non-governmental organisations, including Team Pachedu and the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) led by Nelson Chamisa.<\/p>\n

ZEC is being accused of conniving with the ruling ZANU PF to manipulate electoral processes and results in favour of the ruling party.<\/p>\n

The electoral body warns that such reports are fueling voter apathy and are in most cases far from the truth.<\/p>\n
